Make a Memory

Deuteronomy 4:9 (Contemporary English Version) You must be very careful not to forget the things you have seen God do for you. Keep reminding yourselves, and tell your children and grandchildren as well.

There are certain smells I associate with certain things. If you smell vanilla what do you think about, sugar cookies maybe. If you smell baby power, you probably think of babies. There is a facial powder that my grandmother used that will instantly remind me of her. That smell will trigger certain memories, like me of playing at grandmother’s house and road trips to see relatives. I love those memories. I remember going to church with grandmother. She may never have expressed to me how she felt about those times but I know that she enjoyed them as much as I did. She was proud when I went to church with her. My children know the smells of their grandparents’ home and they love those smells. What memories will be recalled by your family? What impressions are you leaving for the next generation? Will they be of laughter and love and life lessons? Those moments do not have to be perfect, they just need to be with those you love. Make a memory for you and for them.

Love and God Bless,
Cindy Irwin
